Purgatory Creek Natural Area (San Marcos)

The Rundown

Address: 2116 Hunter Rd, San Marcos, TX 78666

Difficulty: Beginner

Distance: 4-6 mi each direction

Terrain: Single track dirt and lots of roots. Mostly flat

Ammenities: Restroom at trailhead  

Parking: Free

The routes are marked with color coded posts and reflectors. While it is marked well, I recommend taking a map for your first few runs. In terms of trail difficulty It is relatively flat compared to trails in Austin, but most of Dante's Trail is rocky and choppy. Make sure to bring plenty of water as there is no drinking water at any of the trail heads.
