Texas Switchback Trail Race Benefits Back on my Feet
The Texas Switchback is super excited to be working with Back on my Feet again this year! BOMF combats homelessness through running. The non-profit helps troubled members of the community turn their lives around using running as a foundation for growth, healing, and opportunity. Volunteers from the community show up bright and early each week to run with the members. Trail Roots and our races have had the opportunity to run with the members on several occasions and It is awesome! If you are not familiar with Back on my Feet you can check them out at Backonmyfeet.org/austin . Shawn was voted member of the year in 2018, and you can see in the video how running with Back on my Feet helped him break drug addictions and create a new life for himself.
When we started our Austin running group one of our primary goals was impacting the local community, and one way we can do this is through our commitment to donate 10% of our proceeds from the Texas Switchback to BOMF. We also collect donations online during race registration that go directly to these guys. Our goal this year is to be able to give a check to BOMF for $2,500 from our fundraising and proceeds portion. We also know beyond the donation we are able to provide, that is important to bring awareness to Back on my Feet. Please donate anything you can (even if its $5) when you register for the race, or join their weekly runs!
If you are interested in getting involved, feel free to join us for a group run with BOMF on April 3rd at 5:30am from Bennu Coffee on East MLK. You can RSVP and keep up to date on our FB event page too! If you can’t make the group run, then feel free to stop by their table at The Texas Switchback trail race on May 11th as well! You can register and find out more info about our race at Trailroots.com or if you aren’t able to run and want to contribute to our donation you can do so here as well. We look forward to running with you soon!
